Tomasz Wiatrak has been Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the ORLEN Unipetrol Group since July 2019. He has more than ten years of experience with managing optimisation, restructuring, and audit projects. As Chairman of the Board of Directors of the ORLEN Unipetrol Group, he is responsible for the overall administration and management of ORLEN Unipetrol Group companies, the Legal Division, strategy and business analysis, internal audit, HR Division, communication, safety, control, marketing, sponsoring and digitalization.
Under Tomasz Wiatrak’s management, the Unipetrol Group has capped the integration process within the ORLEN Group, which resulted in the Group’s renaming to ORLEN Unipetrol. The ORLEN Unipetrol Group has also intensified its greening activities, projects related to renewable resources and circular economy in the refining and petrochemical segments. All these efforts aim to achieve emissions neutrality in 2050, as declared by the parent company, ORLEN.
The retail segment has seen significant progress, with the ORLEN Benzina network of petrol stations reinforcing its leading position and successfully entering the Slovak market. ORLEN Benzina runs 427 outlets in the Czech Republic and is the largest chain with a 25 per cent market share. In Slovakia, ORLEN Benzina has become one of the fastest-growing chains since its market entry in 2019.
The ORLEN Unipetrol Group is also highly committed to corporate social responsibility (CSR). It focuses on initiatives aimed at the cultivation and support of sustainable development, education, local communities, and the environment.
He has been Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Club of Polish Capital in the Czech Republic since 2018 and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Union of Chemical Industry of the Czech Republic since 2019.
Tomasz Wiatrak joined the ORLEN Unipetrol Group from Energa Informatyka i Technologie, a company specialising in state-of-the-art solutions for the energy sector. In the years 2017-2018, he served as Chairman of the Board of Directors responsible for operational and strategic management.
Tomasz Wiatrak holds many audit-related certificates (CIA, CGAP) and management certificates (Prince2Practitioner, M_o_R, ITIL). He is a leading auditor of the information security management system under ISO/IEC 27001.
Tomasz Wiatrak graduated from Warsaw University. Between 1999 and 2005, he studied business administration in a master’s degree programme. From 2008 to 2009, he attended postgraduate studies within the university Academy for the Evaluation of Development Social and Business Programmes. He graduated from the postgraduate programme of Strategic Leadership Academy organised by the ICAN Institute, the publisher of the Polish edition of the Harward Business Review. In 2021, he completed the International Executive MBA Management Program at the Politecnico di Milano in Italy.
